A Delhi NGO pioneered the Genetic treatment of athletes in India

The First Sports MedCon was held on 18th December in Delhi at Four Points by Sheraton. It was organized by India’s Most Famous Healthcare NGO, Rejoice Health Foundation under Aegis of Fit India, Incredible India, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav & Ayush Ministry, wherein India’s Top Sports Doctors spread awareness regarding various sports Related Injuries & their management. The Chief guest for this event was Union Cabinet Minister, Sh. Shripad Naik Ji., Sh. Sandeep Singh Ji, Hon. Minister for Sports, Govt of Haryana inaugurated the event and also felicitated the Indian deaf cricket association on winning the INTL DICC T20 Champions Trophy (UAE). Top athletes and specialist Doctors of sports Medicine were felicitated as well.

It was a landmark event for the promotion of healthcare & Fitness for the general population, athletes, and para-athletes. Doctors from various specialties such as orthopedics, neurosurgery, gynecology, dentistry, dermatology, etc delivered class apart lecture on the relevance of sports in their respective fields.

Dr. Suresh Kumar, Medical Superintendent of Lok Nayak Hospital, and specialist, in internal medicine, enlightened the athletes and doctors regarding the importance of sports and sports-related injuries and their relevance in medicine. Dr. Apoorv Dua Asst. Professor orthopaedics, Baba saheb Ambedkar hospital, briefed about Common Sports Injuries and their Initial Management. Shoulder Instability is a common sports injury and Dr. Deepak Joshi Professor, of the Sports Injury Center, Safdarjung hospital explained its diagnosis and management in athletes.

Dr. Harpreet Singh, consultant, Indian spinal injury center (ISIC), Delhi, highlighted the common Throwing and other overuse injuries in sports persons and their management. Dr. Ankit Khurana briefed regarding preventing and diagnosing Foot & Ankle Injuries in Athletes. Consultant Baba Saheb Ambedkar hospital highlighted the sports injuries in Paralympic Athletes and their special concerns. Dr. Amit Verma Director, Dr. AV Cancer Institute, presented a talk on Genetics & Sports, and their future implications. Lastly, Dr. Naval Kumar Verma Organising Chairman concluded the sports medicine extravaganza by giving a talk on the importance of AYUSH in Sports. All the speakers and faculty members were felicitated. The event was hugely appreciated at the national level and is marked as a landmark and pioneer event bridging sports and medicine.
