She shares her inspiring journey with us in her recent interview. Here are a few excerpts:

  1. Tell us something about yourself. Who is Rakhi Kapoor?

Rakhi: I am an Author of 25 books among which 4 are best sellers on Amazon India, also a Physiotherapist and a Counsellor.

I have been counseling Pregnant Women, to take care of their health and Young Mothers who deal with Postpartum depression, mood swings, and fear of labor pain along with their Spouses for 20 years through my studio – Dwi maternity studio (which specializes in antenatal counseling for expecting couples).

  1. Take us through your work in the professional sphere. What do you do and has it ever inspired your writing?

Rakhi: I had a challenging childbirth, despite being a qualified professional in the same aspect. It was a second chance at life after surviving the grim circumstances that panned out while delivering my baby.

When I got back on my feet, I realized I need to help other women who are not aware of what to do and how they need to take care of themselves during their pregnancy and postnatal phase (immediately after childbirth).

As a working woman, I also understand the struggle of other working women trying to balance their work and take care of themselves and the household chores. If the family members and spouse can be sensitised and made to understand the struggles of a woman, that would make every woman’s pregnancy and immediate post-natal phase joyous and relaxing.

Hence I was influenced to write books and spread awareness about the needs of expecting women and new mothers.

  1. Tell us about your latest book …? What can the readers expect from it and who would the book most appeal to?

Rakhi: “Now you Breathe” is my latest book.

Now you breathe is an attempt to throw light on a subject which is a taboo in our society. Most people neglect their mental health. Deteriorating mental health due to various stressful factors leads to changes in an individual’s personality which makes them behave irrationally. This leads them to either become a victim of abuse or create a toxic environment around them. Toxic relationships exist at home, workspace and even on social media as trolling and leaving hurtful words as comments on posts. Physical abuse is unacceptable and detrimental so is mental verbal and emotional abuse. So, it’s high time to speak about it. This book creates awareness about the red flags in such relationships and how to deal with such toxic environment and people. It urges people to deal with their own issues and get help.

Hence after writing books on relationships, mental health, and self-help, I chose to write on such a sensitive and much needed topic in my 25th book titled “Now you breathe” which talks about all the above-mentioned aspects.

  1. The names of your book are unique and attractive. What is the scheme of ideas that you have behind the naming of your books?

Rakhi: As a working author, I always start the book by deciding on a working title.

Then, I reach out to publications. After a lot of thinking, introspection, debating with the help of professionals in my publishing team the title is finalised.

  1. Are you a spontaneous writer or a disciplined one? Do you often write daily?

Rakhi: I write for 16 to 18 hours a day.

Once I get an idea in my mind, I madly write about it day and night until I complete my manuscript.

  1. What are your other interests apart from writing?

Rakhi: Apart from being a writer, I am a trekker. I love to spend time with nature on mountain tops and retreat from my busy schedule of my life. I have completed iconic treks like Everest base Camp, Annapurna circuit, Mount Kilimanjaro and Mt Fuji.

  1. Any future projects that you are currently working on?

Rakhi: I will be next be focusing on the importance of a healthy environment for upbringing children. Emotional verbal and mental abuse during the childhood days can impact children’s mental health and damage it permanently. Children are innocent and helpless. They can’t fight back because of their financially and emotional dependence.

That would be the next topic that I will be working on.

  1. Your basic advice to budding writers.

Rakhi: ” Write with a Purpose “

This is my advice to budding writers.

They should always have a Purpose to write whether fiction or nonfiction

You can’t write for everyone, that happens only once in a way.

Pick a genre and be persistent. Writing requires a lot of hard work, it’s not easy to sit alone with your thoughts. There are a lot of distractions.

If you are ready to take on that. Then you should be ready to socialize less. Focus on your priorities and be Calm.

If you think of writing to impress others, that is not gonna happen. You have to write to express yourself honestly.

If your work is good, people will be impressed by your work.
