Chennai Athletes Shine at WRPF Asian Powerlifting Championship in Delhi

Athletes training at Oxygen Fitness Gym in Kolathur, Chennai delivered an impressive performance at the WRPF Asian Powerlifting Championship 2026, which was held in New Delhi on February 21 and 22. Representing the Indian team, the athletes competed under the leadership of coach A. Vijay Bhaskar and brought home a remarkable medal tally.

The competition was organized by the World Raw Powerlifting Federation and saw participation from athletes across Asia. The Chennai-based lifters showcased outstanding strength and determination, earning a total of nine medals for the team.

Among the medal winners, V.S. Abhishek Paul Joshua secured a gold medal, clinched one gold. A. Manikandan added another gold to the tally, and S. Saran delivered an exceptional performance by winning in two events and secured two gold medals.

M. Vasudevan earned one gold medal, and Joash Immanuel contributed another gold for the team.

In addition,D.M. Siranjeevi won one silver and one bronze medal in two events, while K. Praveen Kumar secured one silver medal.

Overall, the athletes trained at Oxygen Fitness Gym, Kolathur Chennai, achieved a remarkable haul of six gold, two silver, and one bronze medal, highlighting their dedication and rigorous preparation.
