GIIS Ahmedabad qualifies for State level championship after winning U-14 SGFI district football final tournament

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India]: The Global Indian International School (GIIS) Ahmedabad has emerged as the champions of the Under-14 School Games Federation of India (SGFI) District Football Tournament. The school team played an outstanding game in the finals to win against Udgam School with a score of 1-0. 

A total of 19 schools played in the tournament and the GIIS Ahmedabad team won the quarter-final round against Khyati World School with a score of 4-0. In the semi-finals, the team played against Global Mission International School to win the match with a score of 3-0. The final showdown was against Ahmedabad International School where the GIIS Ahmedabad school team won with a score of 2-0. 

The finals were held recently at the SAG Sports Complex, Nikol in Ahmedabad. Jayshil Sompura, Captain of GIIS Ahmedabad’s football team shared his happiness and said, “The first half of the game was intense due to the looming possibility of a tie. However, our team’s spirits soared high when we scored our first goal. Despite the challenging nature of the match, we emerged victorious. This victory is the result of our relentless dedication, and it’s truly exhilarating to be crowned as district champions. I take immense pride in my team, and I’m confident that we’ll persistently strive for greater achievements in the future as well.” 

Jayshil Sompura, Mac Baldha, Darsh Devani, and Shresth Sharma; the four team members of GIIS Ahmedabad football team will now be representing the city at the state level championship scheduled to happen in the coming months. The team also believes that GIIS Ahmedabad has played a big role in their success as it holds a strong focus on sports and provides its students with the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. 

The Principal of GIIS Ahmedabad Mr. Caesar D’silva applauded the students for their tremendous performance. He said, “I am extremely proud of our young footballers who have shown exceptional talent and determination to become the U-14 SGFI district champions. They have made GIIS Ahmedabad proud with their perseverance, dedication, and hard work. Kudos to these young footballers and their coach Mr. Kshitij Jain for his invaluable efforts. I am confident that they will pull their socks up for the state-level tournament as well and continue to make us proud.” 

The GIIS Ahmedabad U-14 football team is an inspiration to all young football enthusiasts. They are the district champions and are now ready to take on the best teams of the state. Their victory depicts that anything is possible if you work hard and never give up on your dreams.
