Mayaa SH On Felicitated As A Grandmaster Featured Authoress In Kolkata New Town Book Fair 2025

Mayaa SH thanks Founder of Publishing Pitaara, Aryan Sharma for coming up with creative idea on the design of her book “Swayam” and eventually curating the concept of Swayam with designing the interstellar book concept and cover of “Swayam” that has won her numerous accolades. Her book “Swayam” is a testament to her commitment to exploring themes of self-belief, motivation, and the empowerment of women.

Mayaa SH is a prominent figure in the literary community, was recently honored as a Grandmaster Featured Authoress at the Kolkata New Town Book Fair. The biggest highlight of the just-concluded edition of the fair was the felicitation of the authoress by the Kalam Writer’s Forum Of Bengal.

The Newtown Book Fair committee held  the 11th book fair at Newtown city square ground from December 25 to January 5 2025. Like yesteryears, this year the fair hosted several attractive programmes each day apart from its principal aim of increasing awareness about books.

The authoress, who will be felicitated with the “Karamveer Shiromani Samman National Award in February this year” amongst distinguished personalties to receive recognition in the 11th NewTown Book Fair India, This recognition is a testament to her significant contributions to literature and her impact on the writing community. The Kolkata Book Fair is one of the popular book fairs in India, attracting thousands of visitors and showcasing a diverse range of authors, publishers, and literary works.

The fair was inaugurated by Firhad Hakim, minister in-charge of Urban Development & Municipal.

A new logo for the book fair was unveiled acting on the concept of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who had planned to project this newly-developed city to the world using the iconic Biswa Bangla Gate.

Since this is the centenary year of Rabindranath Tagore’s classic, ROKTOKARABI, several artworks and verses based on it will décor the fair gate. There will be an art festival on this theme too.

More than hundred reputed publishers will set up their stall in this fair. There will be a separate pavilion for little magazines too.

Universities like SNU and several other academic institutions were also present in this fair. HIDCO, NKDA also participated. Besides, there were seminars and panel discussions everyday in the evening highlighting Bengal’s rich socio-cultural legacy and contemporary developments. Reputed artists and painters also showcased their skills. Kabita Utsab (poem festival) was an  added attraction of this fair.
