Pawan Rana is a law student at Gurugram University and an active functionary of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). He currently holds the responsibility of Sahmantri, ABVP Gurugram Mahanagar, and is also a Pradesh Karyakarni Sadasya, roles that place him at the organisational and decision-making core of student politics in the region. Hailing from Rithala village in New Delhi, Rana’s journey is notable for one clear reason—he does not come from a political background. His rise within student politics has been driven by ground work, discipline, and ideological clarity rather than legacy or patronage.

As an LLB student, Rana approaches student leadership with a strong constitutional and rights-based perspective. He believes that universities are not just centres of education, but training grounds for democratic participation. According to him, student union elections are a fundamental democratic right and an essential mechanism for developing responsible leadership among the youth.

One of Rana’s core demands is the conduct of regular, time-bound, and transparent student union elections. He argues that delaying elections weakens student engagement and creates a culture of dependency, where students wait for decisions instead of participating in them. For him, democracy on campus must be predictable, fair, and accountable.

Rana also stresses the protection of elected student representatives, asserting that representation without safeguards is meaningless. Students must be free to raise academic, administrative, and welfare-related concerns without fear of retaliation.

Beyond elections, his larger agenda focuses on making youth independent—through legal awareness, skill development, and exposure to self-employment and entrepreneurial thinking. He believes student unions should build capacity, not entitlement.

In an environment where student politics often swings between apathy and agitation, Pawan Rana represents a grounded alternative—rooted in organisation, responsibility, and self-reliance. His journey from Rithala to regional leadership reflects a new kind of student politics: earned, disciplined, and purpose-driven.
