PM Modi Congratulates ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 Champions; Hails Team India’s Grit and Unity

New Delhi [India]: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 champion team at his residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, New Delhi. The Indian women’s cricket team, led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, created history by defeating South Africa in the final on November 2, 2025.

PM Modi congratulated the players and lauded their determination, teamwork, and fighting spirit. He remarked that their victory is a proud moment for the entire nation and symbolizes women’s growing strength in every field. The Prime Minister appreciated the team’s journey of perseverance, saying that cricket in India is not just a sport but a part of people’s emotions.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, along with Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, and other team members, shared their experiences and challenges during the tournament. They recalled how motivation from the Prime Minister after the 2017 World Cup loss kept them inspired to achieve this milestone. The team expressed gratitude for his continued encouragement and guidance.

PM Modi encouraged the players to visit schools and interact with students to inspire the younger generation, especially young girls, to pursue sports with confidence. He also urged them to support the Fit India Movement and promote fitness awareness across the country.

The Prime Minister concluded the interaction by congratulating the entire team once again, expressing pride in their achievement, and wishing them success in future tournaments.
