Priyani Vani Panditt’s Raageet is a soulful fusion of classical ragas and contemporary soundscapes

In a musical era often dominated by fleeting trends and high-tempo hits, singer-composer Priyani Vani Panditt is making quiet yet powerful waves with Raageet—a concert series that blends the sophistication of Indian classical music with the accessibility of contemporary film melodies. More than just a performance platform, Raageet is a creative movement, offering a fresh narrative for Indian music that speaks to both tradition and transformation.

Raageet reimagines the classical format for today’s audiences—drawing from the intricate structures of ragas while weaving in the emotional pull of Bollywood-style compositions. The result is a listening experience that appeals to both seasoned music aficionados and casual listeners alike.

Born in Jobat in Madhya Pradesh, Priyani’s musical journey began under the guidance of her father, Shri Lavesh Vani, at just eight years old. Her early immersion in Indian classical music laid a strong foundation, which she further cemented with academic excellence—earning undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Indian Music from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) in Indore.

Priyani later sharpened her craft under the mentorship of renowned musicians including Smt. Bharti Soni, Shri Purbayan Chatterjee, Shri Gautam Mukherjee, Smt. Suvarna Wad, and Ustad Murtaza Khan Sahab. Though not aligned with a single gharana, her style reflects the depth of classical training combined with an inventive, genre-fluid approach.

Every Raageet concert is a carefully curated sonic journey, bridging generations and genres. Performances often feature classical ragas intertwined with popular Hindi film melodies—striking a rare balance between musical purity and broad appeal.

Priyani’s commitment to nurturing talent is equally noteworthy. For the past seven years, she has served as a vocal coach and music educator through her Raageet Music Academy. With students from across the globe, the academy offers online training in Indian classical and semi-classical music, bridging geographies through digital learning.

A seasoned playback singer, Priyani has lent her evocative voice to several Bollywood soundtracks, including:

  • Ha Har Ghadi (Thank You)
  • Dil Ye Bekarar (Players)
  • Good Night (Ferrari Ki Sawaari)
  • Punjabi Munde (Ghudchadi)
  • Like a Phoenix (Hindi Vindi)

Her independent releases—including Maahiya, Ab Tak Na Maine, Mohan Bin Radha, and Papa Tum Meri—further showcase her ability to move fluidly across musical boundaries while retaining emotional authenticity.

Priyani’s artistry has garnered accolades both in India and abroad. A Government of India scholarship holder in Indian Classical Music, she has graced stages at major festivals such as Mandi Mahotsav and Bhauramdev Mahotsav in Chhattisgarh, as well as high-profile international events including the SAARC Sammelan, Bihar Diwas, and the Asian Cultural Festival. Her work has found a strong resonance with Indian diaspora communities, especially in the United States, where she has performed for Gujarati and Bengali associations across New York and New Jersey.

In a fast-paced music industry, Priyani Vani Panditt stands out for her commitment to musical integrity and emotional depth. With Raageet, she is not just staging concerts—she is crafting a cultural dialogue that honors India’s rich musical heritage while making it relevant for the world stage. Through her voice, her compositions, and her vision, Priyani is telling India’s story—one raga, one note, one heartfelt lyric at a time.
