Author Dr. Sagar Bairagi, Yugpurush – The Secret of the Box,

What if one visionary soul could rewrite history—unite ancient rulers, heal a fractured land, and awaken a nation’s forgotten pride? In Yugpurush – The Secret of the Box, Dr. Sagar Bairagi delivers a bold and imaginative tale that springs from the ruins of India’s lost cultural glory and weaves a mythological fiction that is both timeless and timely.

In this powerful interview, Dr. Bairagi takes us behind the scenes of his storytelling journey—from sketching imaginary worlds to blending ancestral wisdom with modern-day relevance. Rooted in a deep sense of purpose and reverence for heritage, his narrative explores the clash between good and evil, the price of division, and the hope for redemption through unity.

Step into the world of Yugpurush, where every page offers a reflection of our past and a lesson for the future.

  1. What sparked the idea behind this book, and what inspired you to bring this story to life?

I was deeply hurt seeing the demolished structures of our cultural inheritance. We all know what did the foreign invasions cost us. We, as Indians, are easy to divide and rule. Then I thought what would have happened if we had a Yugpurush who could unite the rulers of ancient India to fight for their motherland, together.

  1. Can you walk us through your writing journey? Do you follow a particular routine or have any personal rituals that help ignite your creativity?

There is no specific writing process I follow. I write what I imagine. I write what I think, but I never stop doing so, that is my secret. I always like to write when I am happy or sad but I never pick up my pen when I do not sleep well. A refreshed mind thinks better. Just pray to the god you believe and ask him/her for the best you can do for the society.

  1. Your characters feel incredibly vivid and unique—were they inspired by real people, or did they emerge entirely from your imagination?

The characters I have introduced to my readers are not real or not related to any historical text. They are the product of my imagination. Though they are fictitious, they show our ancestral human nature.

  1. Your book explores powerful themes. What drew you to this subject, and what key takeaways do you hope readers will carry with them?

This book delves into the theme of standing up against evil. How the people with two mentalities fight for their motive and the common people pay for their sins, is the main theme for this very book. A Yugpurush will incarnate to show them the right path. The readers can relate their past with their future. Apply their knowledge for the needy ones. One can learn from the others’ mistakes.

  1. The setting of your story is rich and immersive. How did you go about crafting such a world? Were there specific places, cultures, or events that inspired it?

When I write something, I draw pictures of the same. It makes me understand the story better. When we think about our mistakes from the past, we think that we could have done better. The problem is that we cannot correct them but we can try not to make the same mistakes, again. When I started writing the story I started imagining a whole new world so it is not connected to any possible location, structure or historical events. The only location I mention frequently is Bharatvarsha (The ancient India).

  1. How do you strike a balance between staying original and meeting the expectations of your genre? Did you face any hurdles in blending your vision with familiar storytelling elements?

Writing with the original concept is a power to you. When I was writing a mythological inspired fiction story, I needed to balance it with the original scripts. I had to make sure every aspect of mythology and our cultural history should go unharmed, because there is faith involved. I have no right to harm anyone’s sentiment.

People didn’t believe me when I told them the story. No publisher was ready to go for it, but I managed to push my limits and stand here with the same.

  1. The story flows with great momentum and keeps readers hooked. What’s your secret to building tension and maintaining that narrative drive throughout?

I do not think that every story must have specific criteria for the readers. A well crafted story goes in the right direction. The characters revolve around it and make it easy for the writer, but it should not go unplanned. I had to keep in my mind every possible event throughout the journey of even a single character.

Every character deserves a better introduction, journey and an end.

  1. With storytelling evolving so rapidly in today’s digital age, how do you view the future of traditional narratives? How do you ensure your writing resonates with modern readers?

Evolution is the right of our civilization, but at what cost? There is a whole new world of readers but the present generation is not interested in reading. Technology is making us think less and believe in what we have been told. They believe in video and audio format. The modern stories have adapted themselves with the same but it can never replace the traditional storytelling.

I like to talk to people. I go to storytelling and stand-up comedy events for the same, as a performer. People love when someone talks to them. It is a new way for me to meet the audience.
