Italian scooter brand Piaggio’s iconic Vespa has revealed its flagship model, the Vespa GTS 310, at EICMA 2024 in Milan. According to Vespa, no other scooter in its portfolio matches the power and responsiveness of the new 310cc engine. In this article, we will discuss the Vespa GTS 310’s looks, design, specifications, and features.
Vespa GTS 310: How Does it Look and Design?
The Vespa GTS 310 features a fully steel bodywork, with a centrally mounted engine unit and chassis that bears the weight of the mechanical components. The handlebar includes two chrome-plated command units with all control buttons.
The Vespa GTS will be available in three trims — GTS, GTS Super, and GTS SuperSport. The standard version comes in colors like Beige Evolgente, Nero Convento, and Verde Amabile. The GTS Super is available in two pastel shades: Bianco Innocente and Rosso Coraggioso, along with Metallic Nero Convento. It features sporty black details with a touch of chrome, including grips and rubber inserts on the footrest, and the front suspension spring.
The GTS SuperSport variant comes with bold and striking graphite-colored rims, dedicated graphics, and a range of black details. The badge features a carbon-look finish with fluorescent orange accents. The black seat comes with horizontally heat-sealed seams and contrasting double stitching in fluorescent orange. This model is available in five colors: Blue Atletico, Bianco Innocente, Grigio Travolgente Opaco, Nero Convento Opaco, and Verde Ambizioso Opaco.
Vespa GTS 310: The Powerful New Engine
The Vespa GTS 310 is powered by a liquid-cooled, 278cc engine, which has been upgraded to 310cc. Vespa revealed that over 70% of the components in the 310cc engine are new, ensuring improved performance. The single-cylinder stroke has been increased from 63mm to over 70mm, allowing the engine to deliver 25bhp at 7,750 rpm. The torque has been increased to 27.5Nm at 6,000 rpm, providing strong low-end power.
Other new components in the powertrain include an injector, tilted cylinder, new starting system, and crankcase design, all of which significantly reduce mechanical and drive belt noise. The new engine also meets the Euro 5+ standards.
Vespa GTS 310: Features
The GTS 310 is equipped with several modern features, including an ASR system — an electronic traction control function that prevents rear wheel spin. It is fitted with 12-inch rims and a disc brake system on both wheels. For added convenience, Vespa has replaced the traditional ignition switch with a keyless fob and introduced a black dashboard surface with a bag hook in the center console. In terms of safety, the GTS 310 comes standard with the ABS Anti-lock Braking System across the entire Vespa GTS lineup.
