Anju Pulivarthi, INDIAN ICON AWARD 2026, National Excellence Council, Pride India Awards, Bengaluru’s Green Voice

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India]: Bengaluru-based media professional and environmental enthusiast Anju Pulivarthi has been honoured with the prestigious INDIAN ICON AWARD 2026 by the National Excellence Council/Pride India Awards for her continued commitment towards nature conservation and social responsibility.

Known for her large-scale plantation initiative across Bengaluru, Anju has independently contributed to the plantation and nurturing of over 2,236 plants in metro zones, road medians, national highways and public parks across the city.

Apart from her environmental contributions, Anju has also been actively involved in social awareness and youth engagement activities through volunteering platforms and educational initiatives.

Over the years, her efforts towards environmental sustainability and public service have earned her multiple recognitions, including:

  • INDIAN ICON AWARD 2026 – National Excellence Council / Pride India Awards
  • Recognition for Social Responsibility and Impeccable Service Towards Nature – ITTA Awards 2023
  • Individual Achiever Award – Karnataka Traders Chamber of Commerce (KTCC) Awards 2023

Professionally, Anju works in the fields of journalism, public relations, media communication, and digital content production in Bengaluru and is also a budding author.

Speaking about her environmental mission, Anju said, “I strongly believe that small individual actions, when carried out consistently, can create a lasting impact on society and future generations. One of my biggest fears is imagining a future where people may have to carry oxygen cans or cylinders the way we carry water bottles today. That thought itself motivates me to contribute towards protecting nature in every possible way.

My university, KristuJayanti, which is recognised across India for its green campus initiatives and environmental achievements, played a major role in shaping my mindset towards sustainability. Along with academics, we were taught the importance of protecting and respecting nature.

I am deeply grateful to my professors, Dr.Gopakumar A.V. and Mr. Manjunath S. Gowda, for constantly encouraging and motivating me to pursue my passion for environmental conservation. I also sincerely thank my family, relatives, and friends who have stood by me through every challenge and supported my journey throughout.”
