How Kashmir's emerging artists and entrepreneurs are charting new paths of success

The trend of calligraphy, mixed art, painting and entrepreneurship at large, is catching up fast across Kashmir. Especially the youth are at the heart of this transformation taking place just at the right time. Some well-established businessmen and veterans are also turning things around, while others are finding their feet.

So, don’t be surprised if you see a number of budding flowers in the headlines going forward. Here’s a brief description of some emerging artists and entrepreneurs in the valley:

  1. Javid Parsa: Famous for his Parsa’s chain of restaurants, Javid Parsa needs no introduction. He started his first venture in 2013 and gained enough success by 2015. Javid went from strength to strength, and today, Parsa’s is not just a name to reckon with, but a story of commitment and perseverance. 
  1. Hanan Zahoor: The founder of Ethnic Kashmir, Hanan Zahoor is a well-known entrepreneur who has taken up the baton to revive the world-famous Kashmiri Pashminas. He has invested heavily in digitizing and documenting the process involved in making them. Hanan’s determination and zeal sets him apart in the entrepreneurial orbit.
  1. Aabru Jan: A terrific calligraphy and painting artist, Aabru is moved by natural forms of art, which is incidently the name of her instagram handle @natural_calligraphy. She was born and brought up in Barzulla, Srinagar. Aabru started her art-affair in 2021 and intends to continue this endeavor for years to come.
  1. Khurshed Peer: The founder of Kashmir Travels, Khurshed Peer is not only a maverick entrepreneur, but a professional geek as well. An IT consultant by profession, he has worked with many celebrities and diplomats across the world through his venture Kashmir Travels. Having made his presence felt in the UT, Khurshed now intends to expand his business in India. 
  1. Sameer Ahmad Mir: Famously known as the_quraan_writer on Instagram, Sameer Ahmad Mir hails from district Pulwama of the Kashmir Valley. A businessman by profession, he started writing the Quran in January, 2022. In a short span of time, he gained fame for his prolific Quranic calligraphy.
  1. Ali Abbas Hurrah: Having started calligraphy and sketching from a very young age, Ali Abbas has already become a pro at various art forms at the age of 21. He belongs to Magam, situated in the district Baramulla. Ali Abbas has a unique touch to his art work, which he shares at artistic_impressions_05.
