Idemitsu India organized a tree plantation and a bicycle rally to celebrate the World Environment Day
  • A distance of 25 Kms was covered during the bicycle rally from Panvel to Patalganga
  • A tree plantation drive of planting around 800 trees was undertaken during the rally

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Idemitsu Lube India, a leading automobile lubricant manufacturer and supplier to Japanese OEMs in India organized a bicycle rally from Panvel to Patalganga in association with Yerala Project Society. This was to celebrate the World Environment Day and along with it a tree plantation drive was also initiated of planting around 800 trees enroute.

Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and held annually on 5 June since 1974, World Environment Day is the largest global platform for environmental public outreach and is celebrated by millions of people across the world. This year, Idemitsu Lube India wanted to contribute to the good cause by organizing the cycle rally and tree plantation drive. Idemitsu lube India believes in zero wastage and environment-friendly processes are followed at the Idemitsu Lube India plant as well.The manufacturing plant is already Zero Liquid Discharge – Right from recycling the sewage water at the Sewage treatment plant to using the same for irrigation of over 800 plants and trees at the plant site, and the effluent treated and recycled in utilities; more than 60 % of the electric power requirement is fulfilled through solar energy. These are little step towards caring for the environment.

Speaking about the drive, Idemitsu Lube India officials said, “We always plan activities that are environment safe and eco-friendly in nature and believe in zero wastage processes. In fact, most of the activities at our plant are done keeping in mind the eco-system. We are an environment conscious company. Hence, we conducted this plantation drive that will help and nurture the environment and nature.”

Along with the drive, IdemitsuLube India also distributed jute bags among its employees and business associates to promote the usage of sustainable products instead of plastic bags.
