Jugesh Boro, a professional dancer and stage choreographer hailing from the small village of Seajuli in Assam’s North Lakhimpur district, is a shining example of resilience and determination. Despite growing up in poverty, he has carved a niche for himself in the world of dance, inspiring countless others with his journey.

Born to daily wage laborers Gubin and Nilima Boro, Jugesh had a humble upbringing. He attended a local government school and completed his graduation in 2022(Lakhimpur Kendriya Mahavidyalaya), followed by a Master’s degree in 2024 (North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous). Despite financial challenges, he never let adversity deter his dreams. Jugesh’s performances are characterized by their grace, emotion, and technical precision, earning him recognition as one of the leading figures in the dance community. Beyond the stage, he has inspired countless individuals through his teaching and workshops, nurturing the next generation of dancers. His commitment to his craft and his community has made him a beloved figure in the world of performing arts.

From an early age, Jugesh was drawn to dance, which he describes as his “spiritual motivation.” He began traveling to various districts and cities, learning and teaching dance at institutions and workshops. “From my early age, I started travelling to many places and met many people to expand my knowledge of dance,” he shares.

His dedication and passion bore fruit when he received the International Icon Award for his exceptional dancing talent in 2024 and when he got opportunities to assist in various music videos. Over the years, he has participated in renowned Indian TV reality shows such as Dance Deewane, Dance Plus, and Dance Ka Dangal. Today, he teaches at NRITYABBAN, a dance institution in North Lakhimpur, where he continues to mentor aspiring dancers.

Jugesh’s journey was not easy. Coming from a place where dance was not seen as a stable profession, he faced skepticism and doubt. “Born in a place where no one is supportive towards dance, I decided to bring change among people,” he explains. His relentless efforts have changed perceptions, inspiring young talents in his community to pursue their passions.

One of the turning points in his career was joining a training course by Cininfo, where he learned how to grow as an artist. During this time, he interacted with prominent personalities like Boman Irani, Mukti Mohan, Terence Lewis, Rajesh Tailang, Abhisekh Banerjee, Supern S Verma, and Tisca Chopra, gaining valuable insights into the importance of practice and perseverance. “Practice and hard work are the only ways to achieve our dreams,” he emphasizes.

Jugesh’s success has also brought financial stability to his family. He proudly shares that at the age of 23, he built his own house and funded his higher studies independently. Today, he is not only a celebrated dancer but also a beacon of hope for others who aspire to follow unconventional career paths.

With big dreams still ahead, Jugesh continues to work tirelessly to achieve greater milestones. His story is a testament to the power of perseverance, passion, and the belief that change begins with one determined individual. As he reflects on his journey, he remains grateful for the constant support of his parents and the lessons he has learned along the way. “Dance is not just an art for me; it is a way of life,” he concludes.
