Gurugram: Reinforcing the importance of social responsibility, civic awareness and active citizenship among young learners, Lady Florence Convent School, Madanpuri Branch, organised speech and drawing competitions under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Conducted in accordance with the CBSE circular and inspired by the vision of a developed India, the initiative encouraged students to understand how individual responsibility, community participation and socially conscious actions can contribute to nation-building. The activities focused on two significant themes, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and Swachh Bharat, connecting the values of education, gender equality and cleanliness with the larger goal of national development.
A total of 34 students participated in the activities, including 20 students from Class II in the drawing competition and 14 students from Classes IV, VI and VIII in the speech competition.
Through their speeches, students expressed their views on the importance of educating and empowering girls, ensuring dignity and equal opportunities for every child, and building a cleaner India. The discussions highlighted the role of families, schools and communities in creating an environment where daughters are respected, protected and encouraged to realise their full potential. The message, “Educate a girl, empower a nation,” emerged as a central takeaway from the activity.
The drawing competition provided younger students with an opportunity to communicate their understanding of cleanliness and environmental hygiene through creative, colourful and meaningful artwork. The initiative made important social messages accessible to children through active participation and age-appropriate learning.
Following the competitions, Rachit (Class VIII), Palak (Class VI) and Adeeba (Class IV) were selected in the speech competition, while Lakshay and Diksha, both from Class II, were selected in the drawing competition.
Commenting on the initiative, Aruna Dang, Director of Lady Florence Convent School, said, “Education must go beyond textbooks and examinations. It should help children understand their responsibilities towards society and give them the confidence to become thoughtful, compassionate citizens. Initiatives such as Seva Sankalp Abhiyan allow students to engage with issues that matter to our country, whether it is ensuring that every girl gets the opportunity to learn and succeed or understanding that cleanliness begins with individual responsibility. The values children practise today will shape the India we aspire to build tomorrow.”
The programme reflected the school’s commitment to combining academic learning with values-based education. By encouraging students to express their ideas, think critically about social issues and participate in activities with a larger purpose, the school aims to nurture a generation that understands the relationship between personal responsibility and national progress.
