Derezaar Banaji is bringing fashion, food and hospitality under one roof with ZAAR-LINE, a new multidisciplinary luxury concept taking shape in Chelsea, New York City.
As Founder and Creative Director, Derezaar is developing ZAAR-LINE’s upcoming flagship as a destination that will combine a café, wine bar and curated designer clothing. The concept is built around one idea, creating an immersive experience rather than operating as a conventional fashion store or dining space.
Derezaar is overseeing how guests experience ZAAR-LINE, from its visual identity and interiors to apparel collections and culinary offerings. The flagship is also expected to feature private dining and bespoke catering concepts for an exclusive clientele.
His approach is shaped by a career spanning luxury fashion, culinary arts and hospitality. Derezaar has worked with fashion brands including such as Stefano Bemer and trained professionally in culinary arts. His culinary experience includes roles at New York establishments such as The Modern at MoMA and The Musket Room, along with stage experiences around the fine dining scene in New York City.
This cross-industry experience gives Derezaar a perspective that combines fashion merchandising and consumer behavior with culinary development, kitchen operations and hospitality service. His academic background mirrors that journey. He holds a BS in Hospitality Management from New York Institute of Technology, a Chef’s Career Culinary Diploma from the Institute of Culinary Education and an MPS in Fashion Business Management from Parsons School of Design.
For Derezaar, ZAAR-LINE is the next step in bringing these disciplines together. He says, “I want ZAAR-LINE to offer be an experience where distinct creative expressions like fashion and food come together as one. Luxury, to me, is about creating something memorable that will stand the test of time”
While New York has shaped his professional career, Derezaar’s Parsi roots remain an important influence on his outlook. He sees hospitality as a universal language, combining the warmth associated with his heritage with the contemporary luxury culture of New York. He adds, “My experiences are an important part of who I am. I’ve always believed that hospitality is about making people feel welcome, and that is something I carry with me wherever I go.”
With ZAAR-LINE, Derezaar is positioning himself at the intersection of fashion, culinary arts and experiential hospitality, with a focus on creating a destination where each element contributes to a single, cohesive luxury experience.
