Spandana Rameshwar, Mysuru-based artist, art and culture

31 January 2026: Mysuru-based artist Spandana Rameshwar stands as a shining example of how art and culture can seamlessly merge to create meaningful expression. Born on 25th February 1993 in Mysuru, Spandana’s journey reflects a deep-rooted passion for visual art, music, and cultural heritage—making her a distinctive creative voice in Karnataka’s contemporary art space.

Art, for Spandana, is not merely a profession but an innate calling. With no formal training, she began painting in childhood and has since created over 500 artworks, inspired largely by nature, heritage, and human emotions. Her paintings are known for their emotional depth and organic flow, resonating with audiences across age groups. Over the years, her works have been showcased at several national and international exhibitions, both offline and online.

A firm believer that art and music go hand in hand, Spandana actively creates art-and-music-based videos, blending live painting with soulful music to encourage creative appreciation among wider audiences. These visual narratives aim to bring art and music together as a single expressive language, inspiring younger generations to connect with creativity beyond conventional formats. Spot painting, driven by her eternal love for nature, remains one of her most cherished artistic passions.

Her artistic excellence has been recognised at prestigious platforms such as Chitrasanthe by Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, where she was selected as a Professional Artist for Chitrasanthe 2024. Her paintings have also been exhibited at the Mysuru Tourism Department’s Chitrasanthe (2024), the 17th National Scouts and Guides Jamboree (2016), and internationally at the 12th AKKA Kannada World Conference (2024) in Richmond, USA. Her work reached global digital audiences through the Google Art Exhibit (2020).

Further strengthening her contribution to the arts, Spandana founded ‘Spandana Art Gallery’ in Mysuru to promote art, culture, and emerging talent. Her dedication has earned her numerous accolades, including a Certificate of Merit at Bharatiya Chitrakala Pradarshan (2022) and the prestigious Indian Arts Award 2026 for Visual Art – Painting, presented by the Indian Literature & Arts Society.

Deeply rooted in folk traditions, Spandana is also an accomplished folk singer, trained in Hindustani classical music, and hailing from a renowned folk singing family led by her father, Dr. K. Rameshwarappa. She has performed at major cultural festivals such as Mysuru Dasara, Mysuru Winter Festival, and Suttur Jathra Mahotsava, and represented Indian folk culture internationally at AKKA-2018, Dallas, USA.

Alongside her artistic journey, Spandana is pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemistry and serves as a Guest Lecturer in Organic Chemistry at the University of Mysore. She is also the author of “Biodiversity of Karnataka State Open University Campus, Mysore.” Her achievements include being honoured as “The Most Remarkable Artist and Author of the Year 2023” and receiving the State Award “Sanchi Honamma Mahila Prashasthi” in 2024.

Balancing her roles as an artist, cultural ambassador, academician, author, wife, and mother to her daughter Anvitha, Spandana Rameshwar continues to inspire by proving that when art and music unite with purpose, they become a timeless legacy.
