Hyderabad, October 7, 2021: The semi-final round of the SREENIDHI UNIVERSITY TELANGANA PREMIER GOLF LEAGUE 2021, was held on Thursday, October 7th 2021 at the Hyderabad Golf Association golf course. The league sponsored by Sreenidhi University and powered by Magnifiq Securities, HDFC and NMDC; has 5 qualifying Rounds in the league stage. The two teams qualifying from each division play in the 3 Rounds of Knock out/playoff matches of Quarter Finals, Semi Finals and Finals.
The Semi-final round was played in both Single & Doubles format with 4 singles and 2 doubles matches for a total of 6 points. Four teams ie. Glendale Golfers, Apollo Cancer Crusaders, Civet Rangers and Team Mysa competed in the semi-finals. A total of 32 golfers (8 from each team) played the round.
In a high-tension semi-final round, Glendale Golfers beat Apollo Cancer 4 / 2 and Team MYSA beat Civet Rangers 3.5 / 2.5. Glendale Golfers and Team Mysa qualified and will fight it out in the final for the Sreenidhi University Telangana Premier Golf League 2021 trophy on Saturday October 9th 2021.
The semi- final round saw some intense and high-level golf. Glendale Golfers (finalist) had a good run winning two singles matches and two double matches over Apollo Cancer Crusaders thereby making it to the finals with 4/2 win. Narahari Varma of Glendale beat Ashok Reddy 2/0 of Apollo in a nail-biting game. Mir Ahmed beat Bhushan 7/6 adding two points while doubles pair of Rama Rao & Sridhar Mummareddy beat Nagi Reddy & Shekar Nukala 4/3 and KVSN Reddy & Nageshwar Rao beat Neha Ahulwalia & Vijay Kumar 2/0. Despite a consistent run by Dr. Vijayanand who won all his matches in the league, Apollo Cancer Crusaders could not make it to the final.
The fight between team MYSA (finalist) and Civet Rangers saw some high voltage golf. All the singles matches were very close, and the tension was palpable. Mysa won two singles and one doubles matches and halved one singles, thereby managing 3.5 points to make it to the finals. Abhijay Jaiswal beat Sanket 2/0 & Navin Gullapalli beat Sridhar Reddy 2/0 while Madhav Kota halved his match with Ram Mohan. The doubles pair of Anil Yamani & VVSN Raju of Mysa beat G.L. Siva Reddy & Manikanta 4/2 while Deepak G & Satish C lost to Capt. Sameer & Mutyam Reddy 2/4.
On completion of the semi-final round, two teams made it to the Finals where Glendale will play against Team Mysa. The league is poised for an high voltage finish in the finals, to be played on Saturday, October 9th at HGA where the winner will walk away with the first ever SREENIDHI UNIVERSITY TELANGANA PREMIER GOLF LEAGUE 2021 trophy at a gala prize distribution ceremony.
