Gujarat: CM inaugurates state-of-the-art R&D Centre of Ami Lifesciences at Karkhadi in Padra taluka of Vadodara

Gujarat has become nation’s manufacturing, automobile and pharmaceutical hub- CM

Gandhinagar, Gujarat: Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupanitoday inaugurated state-of-the-art, Hi-Tech Pharmaceutical Research and Development Centre of Ami Lifesciences at Karkhadi in Padra taluka of Vadodara and stated that this research facility will further strengthen the global reputation of our pharma industry for quality research and medicine supply.  While Vadodara is the hub of the pharmaceutical industry, this state-of-the-art facility will further accelerate the growth of the pharmaceutical industry.

Mr. Rupani said that Gujarat has become nation’s manufacturing, automobile and pharmaceutical, diamond and textile hub. He added that Gujarat is a policy-driven state and policy-based sustainable development is planned in every sector of development and so Gujarat has become a land of opportunity. Environment-friendly development is the speciality of Gujarat.

CM added that the Indian pharmaceutical market is the third-largest market in the world in terms of volume and 13th in terms of cost value. Our pharmaceutical industries have earned a global reputation for providing affordable and quality medicines.

While Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has adopted a policy of promoting ‘Make in India’ to make India self-reliant in every field, Ami Lifesciences has produced more than 40 active pharmaceutical ingredients to fulfil the dream of PM.

CM added that India’s generic medicines have been instrumental in reducing healthcare expenditure in many countries of the world, including the USA. Gujarat is at the forefront in providing employment to the entire nation and Gujarat is also providing employment to a large number of non-Gujarati’s.

The market for the nation’s pharma industry is estimated at more than 39 billion US dollars, of which 50 percent is exported. Gujarat accounts for 33% of the nation’s pharma sector. The commitment to make Gujarat a pharmaceutical hub has come true.

Mr. Rupani said that a Medical Devices Park near Rajkot and a Bulk Drug Production Park at Ankleshwar are being set up to achieve the goal of a self-reliant India – a self-reliant Gujarat in the medical devices and pharmaceutical industry.

CM said that GIDC has created infrastructural facilities for industries in the state which has resulted in Gujarat becoming a destination for foreign investment today. He said that during the 45 years of Congress rule, there were only nine universities in Gujarat. Many new universities have been established under the leadership of PM Mr. Modi which includes universities like Petroleum, Marine, Forensic Science and Raksha Shakti University.

At time when the world is fighting against Corona, Medicines for cancer, diabetes and other diseases have reached the country and the world through R&D in our pharmaceutical sector. It is also a matter of pride for us that the vaccine against corona has been developed by ZydusCadila of Gujarat. Gujarat’s pharma industry has emerged as a leading pharmaceutical production hub even during the pandemic.

Various pharma companies in Gujarat are also developing resources for research and development activities. One more has been added today.

The CMD of the unit Mr. Girish Chovatiya welcomed CM and the guests. In his welcome note, he said that the pharma industry is on the path of unprecedented growth and is contributing to a self-reliant India, providing employment, health care facilities under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani. He said the company plans to set up a facility four times bigger in Savlithan Karkhadi in Vadodara district and provide employment to more than two thousand people.

It is worth mentioning here that the founder of Ami Life Sciences, Shri GirishbhaiChowtiya has achieved this feat with the culmination of hard workin just five years.

On the occasion Minister of State for Narmada Development Mr.Yogeshbhai Patel, MP Smt. Ranjanben Bhatt, GitabenRathwa, MLAs SmtManishabenVakil, SeemabenMohile, District Panchayat President Mr.Ashokbhai Patel, leaders, office bearers, Collector, District Development Officer, District Superintendent of Police, representatives of industrial units of Padra area, office bearers were present.
