BEST AUTHOR, in the field of medical literature.

Here is an excerpt of our exclusive interview with him:

1. Tell us something about yourself.

Dr. Sumit Goel: When you go into the space of nothingness, everything becomes known!

Dr. Sumit Goel belongs to an illustrious family of homoeopaths from Mumbai. He has been practising now for more than 26 years. He is a Gold Medalist from University of Mumbai, a Doctor-Homoeopath, Healer, Teacher-Trainer, Motivator, Life Coach and an Author, based in the city of Mumbai.  He has a keen interest in ‘crisis management’ and hence hearing out people’s grievances and giving honest and practical advice is how he likes to spend most of his time.

2. Take us through your work in the professional sphere. What do you do and has it ever inspired your writing?

Dr. Sumit Goel:  I am in three of the noblest professions – Healing, Teaching and Writing!

I am a Doctor-Homoeopath by education and profession, a Teacher-Trainer by intention and a Motivator and Author by passion.

Experiences gathered over the last 25 years through patients, students and observing humans in general transforms into my writing!

The Teacher-Trainer – Over a teaching span of more than 26 years, I have mentored, taught, trained thousands of medical students, who are today some of the leading names in healthcare.

The Doctor-Homoeopath-Healer – I try to provide a healing touch to patients with my smile, motivational words and the white pill. I amalgamate the latest approaches in health management and life transformation technology to achieve the highest ideal of healthy living.

The Author – I am one of the youngest authors in the field of medical text. At the young age of 29, his first medical book was instantly recognised as the standard text for medical students in India and abroad.

Parents, teachers, students, and in fact inspiration has been from every human that I have met. I come from nothingness, so I appreciate everything!

3. Tell us about your latest book. What can the readers expect from it and who would the book most appeal to?

Dr. Sumit Goel:  “I Wanna Grow Up Once Again”

“What happens IN us is more important than what happens TO us.”

This is the mantra of the book. It shifts the focus from the outside to the inside and to the journey of awareness, acceptance and action. It is written in a simple language, easy to grasp and understand. The highlight of the book is the “connection” and “relatedness”. Every reader at some point in the journey of reading this book will pause and connect that it is their story. It takes the reader on a journey of self-awareness to self-transformation.

It is an inward journey into how we have lived our life, till now and how we choose to live from now!

The book tries to connect us to certain deeper parts of us with thought provoking issues like

Why we don’t do what we want to do!

Why do we hold on, why do we not let go!

We all make efforts, but how do we handle setbacks and burnouts!

How to identify and manage our triggers!

How to change our perceptions and break our patterns!

This book appeals to all age groups, gender, religion or country!!!

4. The names of your book are unique and attractive. What is the scheme of ideas that you have behind the naming of your books?

Dr. Sumit Goel:  A book should have a suitable title and a relevant book cover.

The title should represent the soul or sense of the book, if it is a non-fiction work. Some amount of catchiness and connectedness with the reader should be the focus of the title.

My book cover has an aesthetic appeal to a serious topic. Since the genre of the book is positive, transformational and growth, I decided to choose a color splash of a peaceful white and soothing green with a simple subtle image to capture the feel of the book. As for the title, it is a wish that all of us have at some point of time in our life and the book aims to justify that.

5. Are you a spontaneous writer or a disciplined one? Do you often write daily?

Dr. Sumit Goel:  I suppose I am a blended writer – going both be my instincts and research. Spontaneity brings out originality and creativity, whereas discipline and research give form and structure to the work. I think, feel and act 24X7 and do tend to write almost daily!

6. What are your other interests apart from writing?

Dr. Sumit Goel:  “I love loving life and living life!” I loves reading, immersive observing of life around, conversing, sharing, traveling and any sort of adventure and believe that “Life Matters!”

7. Any future projects that you are currently working on?

Dr. Sumit Goel:  The next book focusses on TIME DETOX. It is about decluttering the past and future  from our present, the next in the series of transformation. It deals with the issue of the predominance of the past and the future in the present and ways of detoxification and neutralizing the emotional charge to memories.

Stresses in our life arise because of three central areas – 1. I, Me, Myself; 2. People connected with us – family, friends, associates; 3. Situational, including our past and future. Further introspection narrows down to our own self – our perceptions and patterns. This is the onset of issues that we have with our own self or with the world around.

So, when our intention and attention with full awareness is in the now, without judging the experience as good or bad, right or wrong, should have or should not have, the resultant state is free of the toxicity of the past and the anticipation of the future. Mindfulness is Empowerment of the Now!

8. Your basic advice to budding writers.

Dr. Sumit Goel:  The journey of an author has three stages

– Writing the book

– Publishing the book

– Marketing and selling the book

All three stages need different skill sets and expertise, for which one may need experts or professionals.

Writing is purely the creation of an author, requiring proper research in to each detail – be it fiction or non-fiction. Creativity, originality, understanding the pulse of the reader, clarity of thoughts, dedication, hard work and in-depth research are necessary ingredients.

One can self-publish, if experienced or consult professional editors or publishers. Marketing and selling, creating brand value of both the book and author is important. Marketing skills and a lot of patience with sustained long-term effects will reap benefits.
