New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the Indian community in Russia at an event held in Moscow today. He received a warm and affectionate welcome from the community members.
In his address, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the Indian diaspora for their warm reception and praised their role in strengthening India-Russia relations. Speaking on behalf of 1.4 billion Indians, he noted that this interaction was particularly special as it marked his first address to the Indian diaspora in his historic third term.
Prime Minister Modi highlighted the significant transformation India has undergone in the last ten years, which he said is a source of great pride for all Indians. He stated that the government’s objective in his third term is to make India the third-largest economy in the world. He spoke about India’s economic growth, which constitutes a significant percentage of global growth, its success in digital and fintech sectors, its achievements in green development, and its impactful socio-economic programs empowering ordinary people. He emphasized that India’s transformative success is due to the dedication, commitment, and contributions of 1.4 billion Indians, each of whom dreams of making India a developed country. He noted that through committed efforts, from tackling climate change to meeting sustainable development goals, India is making significant contributions to global prosperity as a “Vishwabandhu,” or friend to the world. He also highlighted India’s call for peace, dialogue, and diplomacy to resolve global issues.
The Prime Minister encouraged the Indian community to continue playing a proactive role in forging a stronger and deeper partnership with Russia. He announced the decision to open two new Indian consulates in Kazan and Ekaterinburg, which will further enhance people-to-people ties. This announcement was met with great applause. He also praised the community’s efforts to nurture and promote Indian cultural traditions in Russia and share their vibrancy with the Russian people.
