Surat (Gujarat) [India]: In a historic moment that is bound to redefine cultural celebrations and sporting events, Surat District Cricket Association (SDCA), in coordination with IMIT Group and Surat Cyclist Group, has successfully achieved the world’s first-ever ‘Cycle Dandiya’ during Navrang Ratri 2023 at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium. This groundbreaking event, marked as a ‘Unique World Record’ attempt, exemplifies innovation, creativity, and the spirit of tradition.
Driven by a desire to blend cultural heritage with fitness, Nihar Saraswala, the CEO of IMIT Group conceived this unique idea of ‘Cycle Dandiya’. He worked closely with Yesha Shah and Hemant Contractor of SDCA for bringing this extraordinary event to life. He further coordinated with Anil Mardia, the founder of the ‘Surat Cyclist’ Group, to transform this vision into reality, and to reshape the way we celebrate traditional festivals. Mukul Pandey from ‘The Bunker Boot Camp’ dedicatedly trained the cyclists, enabling them to achieve perfect coordination during the Dandiya performance.
This groundbreaking spectacle unfolded on the first day of Navratri, a day that holds immense cultural significance. The participants’ bicycles were generously provided by Sayyam Gandhi from ‘Chartered Bike,’ ensuring that every cyclist had the necessary equipment to make this event a resounding success. The presence of Dr R. C. Shah (MD – Medicine) ensured the safety and well-being of all participants during the event.
The remarkable success of ‘Cycle Dandiya’ can be attributed to the participation of 84 dedicated cyclists who, against the backdrop of the iconic Lalbhai Contractor Stadium, delivered a breathtaking performance for about half an hour. They performed to the vibrant beats of traditional Gujarati folk music, marking a truly memorable event. This incredible event at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium exemplifies the potential of harmonizing tradition, innovation, and fitness, and is set to become a historic milestone in Surat’s cultural and sporting landscape. To get more updates, Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
