About the Author: Sareshth Kumar was born on 05 May 1949. After completing B.Sc. from Sanatan Dharam College, (Later renamed, Atma Ram Sanatan Dharam College) New Delhi, he joined the aviation branch of the Indian Navy in 1969 for a short commission for seven years.
On completion of the flying training with the Indian Air Force, he returned to the navy, where he flew the Seahawks and qualified to fly from INS Vikrant. He was then granted permanent commission in the Navy and subsequently flew a wide variety of aeroplanes with the Navy and the Air Force. Besides commanding the training squadron INAS 551, he also commanded a Coast Guard ship. In 1994, he took premature retirement.
Besides flying, cricket is the other passion of Sareshth Kumar.
In 2010, he started writing articles for the Naval Aviation’s site. His writing style became popular on the site and he was asked to write a book. His first book, ‘The Tail Hooker’ was published in 2012.
‘The Golden Wings’ is the second book of the author.
1. Can you tell us a little about your book?
Story of a naval aviator.
2. Is there a specific event that inspired this story or was this an out of the blue idea?
This book is a follow up of my first book, ‘The Tail Hooker’.
3. What got you writing in the first place?
Joy of writing.
4. What was your impression of your first draft when you read it?
Basic idea is right, but needs lot of work.
5. Which part of your story connects the most with you? Why?
This is my story! I connect with the entire book.
6. What makes your book the one to read?
For those who love to read simple uncomplicated stories, this is a good read.
7. What was the best advice you got while writing?
I was following my own heart and mind.
8. Who’s your all-time favourite author? Which book of his/hers made you fall in love with them?
Prem Chand, Krishan Chander, Vimal Mitra, Bhishm Sahni. Alistair Mclean, H. Rider Haggard, Arthur Hailey, Dan Brown — Most of their books!
9. What is your evergreen tip to the writers out there?
Write from your heart. Don’t bother bout what people want to read!
10. What was your hardest scene to write?
The poem at the end.
11. Do you have another plot brewing?
Yes.
