Warangal hosts two-day colourful cultural extravaganza - Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav 2022!

Warangal, March 30, 2022: The second leg of the National Cultural Festival of India, Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav (RSM) 2022; as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, began today in Warangal. Governor of Telangana, Smt. Tamilisai Soundararajan inaugurated the two-day Mega cultural extravaganza, which will be held on 29th and 30th March 2022 at the Arts and Science College Ground, Warangal. The Union Minister of Culture, Tourism and DoNER, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, will be part of the RSM activities on 30th March, 2022. Earlier, the Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav 2022 started at Rajamahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh on 26th March, 2022. The third leg of the Mahotsav will be held in Hyderabad for 3 days from 1st to 3rd April, 2022.

Smt. Tamilisai Soundararajan, addressing the gathering at the inaugural ceremony said, we are celebrating this great moment here because of the sacrifices of so many freedom fighters. I salute all the freedom fighters who relentlessly fought for our independence. Here I am honoured to inaugurate the exhibition exclusively displaying the valour and sacrifice of the freedom fighters from the Telugu land. Because of these freedom fighters we are breathing free air, drinking free water, walking freely, working freely, achieving freely and therefore need to remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters. As the Prime Minister said, because of these freedom fighters we are in a position to celebrate our independence. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, it’s the culture which unites us and having culture as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav needs to be lauded. The historic city of Warangal becoming the venue for such cultural extravaganza make it memorable. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was the one who united all the freedom fighters from all over the world and came to the country to fight against the Britishers. Our freedom struggle should be highlighted to the youngsters, they should be made aware of how much struggle they put in to achieve our independence. There are several unsung heroes among these freedom fighters, they deserve our tributes and our youngsters should know about their sacrifices, that is the biggest salute to our freedom fighters. 

The Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav 2022, had an auspicious beginning with colourful performances by local artists and choreographed folk dances, performed impromptu throughout the two days on stage and among the audience. The highlight cultural performances staged between 5.30 pm and 10.30 pm, on day one included classical Carnatic Music Vocal performance by Hyderabad Brothers and musical performance by Padmshri awardee Shri Darshanam Mogulaiah, Ms Mangli, playback singer and others. March 30th, the second day of the Mahotsav, will witness enthralling performances by famous music director and singer Shri Vandematram Shrinivas and other popular playback singers. The day will also have an enchanting classical dance performance by Padma Shri awardee Dr. K Padmaja Reddy.

The Mahotsav has been attracting top cultural talent of the country, including folk artists troupes, eminent Padma and Sangeet Natak Academy awarded classical artists covering all genres, year after year. Special care is taken to choose artists reflecting regional flavour of the State where the Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav is organised.

Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav (RSM), was conceptualized by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India in 2015 and aims to celebrate the spirit of Tradition, Culture, Heritage and Diversity of our incredible country. Apart from the broader objective this Mahotsav aims to Preserve, Promote & Popularize the heritage of Indian Spirit & reconnect the new generation with our culture and to showcase to the country and the world our soft power of unity in diversity. The first Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav which was organized in the grounds of IGNCA, New Delhi in November, 2015.
